"Moynihan had told Worcester Magazine when he first announced his at-large campaign that he was not running in District 1 because of his respect for Economou. Now that the three-term incumbent is gone, Moynihan said he is jumping in to try to continue that legacy.
“I have great respect for Tony and his service to our city,” Moynihan said in a press release. “His absence will be a real loss to both our District and our City. His presence on the Council added a steady, guiding had to the work of the Council. I hope to fill that seat for our District in the same manner as Tony to provide District 1 with seamless representation.”"
